Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant

H.E. Mr. Damrong Kraikruan, Ambassador of Thailand in Vientiane along with Ms. Chularat Suteethorn, the president, the committee of Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency and Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, President of NEDA travelled to visit Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant and listen to the lecture about water and environmental management including sediment and Mekong river fish. He also focuses on social care and environmentally friendly practices as well as adheres to Mekong River Commission: MRC safety standard in case of earthquake.  Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Generation is 1 of 11 Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Project with high potential located on lower part of Mekong river in the area of Xayaburi which is 80 Kilometer south from Luang Prabang. This Hydroelectric Power Plant is considered a large Check Dam with generation capacity of 1,285 Megawatt and the maximum of 7,600 million units per year which will be distributed 95% to Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand – EGAT and 5% to Lao electric state enterprise (EDL). Mr. Anupap Wonglakorn, Deputy Managing Director of Xayaburi Power Company Limited was a lecturer at Xayaburi on 13rd January 2020.
