On July 24th, 2024, Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), met with Mr. Ajith Abeysekera, Director General of the Department of External Resources (ERD) of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Finance, Stabilization, and National Policies. Their discussion focused on bilateral cooperation for providing technical assistance to the Sri Lankan government. They also covered a Capacity Building Programme for officials of Sri Lanka’’s Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) in Bangkok and reviewed the current economic situation in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), along with the agency’’s executives, participated in the oath-taking ceremony for good governance and national power on the occasion of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua’’s 72nd birthday on July 28, 2024. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin presided over the ceremony, which was attended by the Cabinet, senior government officials, civil servants, military officers, police officers, state officials, and employees of state enterprises. The ceremony took place at the main stage in Sanam Luang on July 28, 2024, to express their loyalty to the monarchy.

Mr. Kirati Veruwan, Vice President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), participated in the welcoming ceremony for the inaugural Thai-Laos train passengers from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station to Vientiane Railway Station (Khamsavath) in Vientiane, Laos, on July 20, 2024. The event was co-chaired by Mr. Surapong Piyachote, Deputy Minister of Transport of Thailand, and Mr. Xaisongkham Manotham, Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport of Laos. NEDA has supported the development of the railway system in Laos, connecting Nongkhai Province in Thailand to Thanaleng Railway Station and Vientiane Railway Station (Khamsavath) in Laos. This support includes the development of a Container Yard (CY), office buildings for the Department of Railways, staff accommodation, signal systems, and railway crossings. The project aims to enhance transportation connectivity between the two countries, reduce costs, increase the efficiency of freight transport, facilitate travel and tourism, and promote continuous trade and investment between Thailand and Laos.

On July 17, 2024, Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), welcomed Mr. Toshiaki Keicho, AIIB’s Sector Lead on Urban & Water and Lead on Southeast Asia and the Pacific coverage, along with Ms. Saitien Thongplengsri, Senior Investment Officer. They visited NEDA to explore potential collaboration between AIIB and NEDA for infrastructure development under the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) framework. The meeting took place at the Sun Towers building in Bangkok.

Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), along with the agency’’s executives and staff, recorded a blessing message for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on the occasion of her birthday on August 12, 2024. This act was to express their loyalty and gratitude for her royal grace. The recording occurred at the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand on July 17, 2024.

Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), led executives and staff in recording a video tribute to Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, on the occasion of her auspicious 6th cycle, 72nd birthday anniversary on July 28, 2024, to express deep love and gratitude at the Thai Broadcasting Station on June 26, 2024.
