NEDA Representatives Meet with Timor-Leste’’s Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister to Foster Collaborative Project Support

On February 15, 2024, a crucial meeting was held between representatives from the Neighboring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA) and the government of Timor-Leste, aimed at reinforcing bilateral cooperation in various development projects. Mr. Kirati Veruwan, NEDA’s Vice President, along with Mr. Sakollawat Thongcharoen, Minister Counsellor of Thailand to Timor-Leste, and Ms. Pressia Arfin-Cabo from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Timor-Leste, engaged in significant discussions with H.E. Mr. Mariano Assanami Sabino, Vice Prime Minister for Rural Development, and H.E. Mr. Jose Magno, Deputy Minister of Public Health of Timor-Leste. The talks centered on advancing cooperative ventures between NEDA and Timor-Leste, with a particular focus on establishing guidelines for future collaborative efforts across various sectors. A key point of discussion was the enhancement of the Community Maternal and Child Health Center for Maternity and Midwifery (BEmONC). Following the discussions, Mr. Kirati participated in a press conference with the Deputy Minister of Health of Timor-Leste, highlighting their readiness to support the improvement of the BEmONC project. This meeting emphasized the determination of both sides to strengthen their collaboration and achieve concrete outcomes in development and health sectors, marking a significant step in their joint efforts. The conference took place at the PALACIO DO GOVERNO, underscoring the high level of commitment and the importance of these collaborative projects.
