On July 1, 2025, Colonel (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, D.Sc., Vice President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA) , together with representatives from the Department of Highways (DOH), the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conducted a field visit to inspect the Hongsa-Chiangman Road Construction Project (Chiangman City, Chomphet District, Luang Prabang Province) in the Lao People Democratic Republic.
The project is a financial cooperation initiative between the Government of Thailand and the Government of the Lao PDR, implemented under a concessional loan scheme provided by the Thai government through NEDA. With a total budget of THB 1,977 million and a total length of 114 kilometers, the construction was completed in 2021.
This field visit was part of the post-completion monitoring and evaluation activities to assess the actual economic, social, and environmental impacts of the project on the ground. The findings will be used to inform the development of future development cooperation policies, ensuring they align with the needs of partner countries and contribute to the long-term sustainability of Thai and Lao PDR cooperation.
