On August 18, 2026, Mr. Kirati Veruwan, Vice President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), and the NEDA delegation joined Mr. Phitsaphonh Philavong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Roads, Ministry of Public Works and Transport of The Lao People’’s Democratic Republic, and his delegation, along with representatives of the Ministry of Finance of The Lao People’’s Democratic Republic, representatives of the Public Works and Transport Department of Kham Muan sub-district, project supervision consultants, and contractors for both contracts under the Route No. 12 (R12) Improvement Project on the Thakhek to Na Phao border checkpoint in Laos, for a meeting to review project progress. The meeting discussed operational problems and obstacles during the rainy season, engineering issues, detailed design, and requests for Variation Orders (VO) arising from Field Estimation and on-site assessments. Participants also discussed the impact of adjustments in the prices of goods and services resulting from rising fuel costs due to the global geopolitical situation, including the conflict involving Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States, and Israel, as well as the import of fuel for use in the project. The meeting considered solutions to these issues to ensure that the project can be completed according to its objectives within the 30-month construction contract period and the approved project budget. The meeting was held at the Public Works and Transport Department of Kham Muan sub-district in Laos.

The meeting also considered solutions to the issues and compliance with conditions stipulated in the Financial Assistance Agreement (FAA), with the aim of ensuring that the Route No. 12 (R12) Improvement Project on the Thakhek to Na Phao border checkpoint in Laos can be completed in accordance with its objectives within the 30-month construction contract period. The meeting was held at the Public Works and Transport Department of Kham Muan sub-district in Laos.

Bangkok, July 21, 2026 – The Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA) is hosting the 14th CEXIM-EDCF-JICA-NEDA Quadripartite Meeting from July 21–22, 2026, at the Dusit Thani Bangkok. Sr.Col. (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, D.Sc., Vice President, Acting President of NEDA, officially delivered the opening address for the event. The meeting is convened under the theme “The Strategic Imperative of Project Post-Evaluation.” This focus aligns with modern infrastructure development directions that extend beyond physical construction to emphasize infrastructure quality, project sustainability, and climate resilience. Delegates shared expertise and operational approaches regarding project post-evaluation following construction completion. Discussions covered evaluation processes based on OECD DAC criteria and the integration of lessons learned to establish a Learning Feedback Loop. This mechanism ensures that insights and conclusions from past evaluations are applied to the design, appraisal, approval, and management of future development projects to maximize cost-efficiency, long-term sustainability, and regional benefits.

On July 21, 2026, the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA) hosted the 14th four-party meeting involving The Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM), Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and NEDA. The meeting was held from July 21–22, 2026, at Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok, with Colonel (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, D.Sc., Vice President and Acting Director of NEDA, presiding over the official opening ceremony. The meeting was held under the theme “The Strategic Imperative of Project Post-Evaluation,” reflecting the direction of modern infrastructure development, which focuses not only on physical infrastructure development but also on infrastructure quality, project sustainability, and climate resilience. Participants exchanged knowledge and approaches concerning Post-Evaluation following the completion of construction projects. Discussions covered evaluation processes based on OECD DAC criteria and learning from project evaluation results, or “Lessons Learned,” to establish a Learning Feedback Loop through which information and conclusions from previous project evaluations can be applied to the design, approval, and management of future development projects. The approach aims to ensure value for money, sustainability, and maximum benefits for the region. In addition, NEDA, in cooperation with Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), organized a study visit for meeting participants to MEA on Chit Lom Road and the Chit Lom underground power transmission tunnel. As a Thai state enterprise with primary responsibility for electricity distribution and management in the metropolitan area, MEA plays an important role in modernizing the capital’s electricity network. Its notable projects include converting overhead power lines to underground systems, integrating Smart Grid technology, and operating a command and management center for the metropolitan electricity system. These initiatives represent an upgrade in urban infrastructure management and provide a valuable empirical case study for the four financial and development institutions to jointly analyze and gain concrete insights into infrastructure transformation in major cities.

Colonel (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, D.Sc., Vice President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), together with Mr. Kirati Veruwan, NEDA’s Vice President, attended an oath-taking ceremony pledging to be good civil servants and a force for the nation on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn on July 28, 2026. On this occasion, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, presided over the oath-taking ceremony, which was attended by Cabinet members, executives of government agencies, civil servants, military and police officers, government officials, and state enterprise employees. Participants gathered to express their loyalty, reaffirm their commitment to their duties as good civil servants, and express their gratitude for the benevolence of the monarchy. The ceremony was held at Sanam Luang on July 28, 2026.

BANGKOK, 17 JUNE 2026— Colonel (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, Vice President and Acting Director of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), along with Mr. Kirati Veruwan, Vice President of NEDA, attended the royal merit-making ceremony marking the seventh-day period (Sattamawan) to dedicate as a royal merit to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, at the 150th Anniversary Building, Ministry of Finance.
