NEDA Delegation Inspects Progress of R12 Project in Laos

On August 17, 2026, Mr. Kirati Veruwan, Vice President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), and his delegation, together with Mr. Phitsaphonh Philavong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Roads, Ministry of Public Works and Transport of The Lao People's Democratic Republic, and his delegation, as well as project supervision consultants and contractors for both contracts under the Route No. 12 (R12) Improvement Project on the Thakhek to Na Phao border checkpoint in Laos, conducted a site inspection to monitor project progress. The inspection covered both pavement improvement works and improvements to roads providing access to tourist attractions during the rainy season.

The project is expected to be completed by early 2028. It is a financial cooperation project between the Thai government, via NEDA, and the government of The Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a budget of 1.83375 billion Thai baht. The project supports policies to enhance transport network connectivity between Thailand, The Lao People's Democratic Republic, Vietnam, and China, while strengthening connectivity among neighboring countries under the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) economic cooperation framework.
