On November 2nd, 2023, Mr. Jukr Boon-Long, NEDA’s Independent Board Director, welcomed the Honorable Shehan Semasinghe, the State Minister of Finance of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, for discussions related to cooperation guidelines between Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA) and Sri Lanka. Relevant officers from Sri Lanka and NEDA were also present at the meeting.
Both sides discussed and exchanged views on the roles and responsibilities of the NEDA in financial and technical cooperation to foster economic development in Sri Lanka through infrastructure development, leverage people’s well-being, and human resource development. Furthermore, they also discussed the economic situation in Sri Lanka and the interest of the Sri Lankan side in seeking cooperation for capacity building in public debt management for the Ministry of Finance of Sri Lanka.
