UNDP and NEDA Initiate Regional Cooperation to Address Transboundary PM2.5 Pollution in the Mekong Subregion

On 20 January 2026, Ms. Niamh Collier-Smith, Resident Representative, together with a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Peerames Vutithornnetirak, Director of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), along with NEDA’s executives and relevant officials. The meeting aimed to discuss initial approaches for development cooperation to address transboundary environmental pollution, in particular fine particulate matter (PM2.5).

In this regard, the initiation of such cooperation represents a valuable opportunity for NEDA to further enhance its role as a development agency working in partnership with global international organizations, with the shared goal of promoting sustainable growth and strengthening resilience to environmental and climate-related changes in the region.
