NEDA Advances Cooperation with Lao PDR to Strengthen Water Supply Maintenance Personnel Capacity with the Department of Water Supply, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Lao PDR

         Vientiane, Lao PDR, August 26, 2025 — Mr. Kirati Veruwan, Vice President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), led a delegation to meet with Mr. Vanhsaveng Outthachack, Deputy Director General of the Department of Water Supply (DWS), Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). The discussion focused on coordinating collaboration in training and knowledge transfer related to the maintenance of water supply systems, as well as assessing the capacity development needs of Lao public sector personnel in related fields.
         The objective of the discussions was to jointly establish future cooperation strategies that will help enhance the standards of basic public utility services in the Lao PDR, ensuring they are sustainable and better meet the needs of the Lao population. In addition, the meeting explored the possibility of organizing a Joint Mission between NEDA and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to seek collaborative opportunities in developing the water supply systems in Lao PDR.
