The cabinet approved the Electricity System Development Project in Yangon

     On 14th July 2020, the cabinet agreed to approve financial support to Republic of the Union of Myanmar (Myanmar) for the Electricity System Development Project in Yangon (North Okkalapa and North Dagon) in a form of Soft Loan with the amount of 1,458.248 Million Baht. The source of money is from the national budget and financial institutions’ loan within the country.

     In this case, such a project is in accordance with the national strategy to build a good relationship with neighboring countries and support Thai entrepreneurs’ business and services. Participating the loan conditions mandate the use of material supply and equipment from Thailand no less than 50% of the loan amount. In addition, contractors and construction supervision companies must be of Thai nationality.

On April 3, 2024, Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), and his delegation visited Mr. Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Beijing, People’’s Republic of China. The visit, at the invitation of the AIIB, aimed to discuss collaborative approaches for financial assistance in developing infrastructure within the Mekong sub-region and to exchange visions for infrastructure development in the area.
